A Leap of Faith

by Dave

Go9 gets it. That's what it says right at the top of our site's home page. And we do get it—redeveloping your website is a big deal. It's not something you do every day, it's not cheap, and there's a lot on the line when you undertake this kind of major project. This is why you need to find the right team to work with you, and that's where you'll have to take a leap of faith.

There is a plethora of reputable Web development firms out there—teams with plenty of technical expertise and the ability to talk code all day long. But is that enough? If you only want someone who can build a functional website, you've got an abundance of options from which to choose; best of luck in your endeavors.

But if you need a Web strategy and development partner who can work with you to create the best solutions for your online needs, you'll not only want technical proficiency and the ability to apply proven strategy, but also the right fit.

How do you know when the fit between you/your project/your team and the Web team is right? You really can't know for sure in advance (leap of faith, remember?), but there are a few things you can do to help ensure a better fit:

  • Meet with your top contenders for the work and see how they present themselves in person, not just on paper;

  • Ask for references and call them to find out what they have to say about the experience;

  • Do what you can to learn about the culture of the firms you're considering—do they share your organization's values?

In the end, you want a team that feels like an extension of your own. I was lucky enough recently to hear these words said by one of our biggest clients: "Go9 is part of the family here now."

I'm very happy his company took the leap of faith to partner with us. Let us know if you're looking to take the leap, too.
